Threads of Love

Our Women’s Enrichment Ministry is sponsoring a new ministry called “Threads of Love” to promote learning and service. We will meet monthly beginning February 24th, 9:00-noon at 2041 Fernway Drive where we share hand sewing skills with one another, meditate on God’s Word, and begin constructing garments to donate to local hospitals for tiny premature infants. For more information, please contact Jeanne Dean.

Update on Alice DeMoss' Father from Fr. Rusty+

Many of you have been asking about and praying for Alice's dad, Dr. Jack Stone. As most of you know, he collapsed outside our house Christmas Eve day and was taken to the ER at Baptist South Medical Center. We thought he had suffered a stroke, but a CT scan and then an MRI revealed he had a brain tumor. He spent several days in the CVICU before being able to return home to Lakeland, Florida, with my mother-in-law, along with Alice and a brother who had flown in on Christmas Day.

On Tuesday, January 12, he had the tumor successfully removed at the Moffitt Cancer Center at USF in Tampa. The tumor was primary (originating in the brain) and malignant. The surgeon removed all that could be seen. He will follow up with chemotherapy and radiation. He'll be in ICU for a day or so, and then hopefully return home later this week.

This evening, after surgery he was very alert, speech good. There has been some weakness on the right side, as well as some asthma-like symptoms, although this is all improving.

Many, many thanks for everyone's kind thoughts and prayers. I'll be back home Thursday evening, and Alice hopes to return Sunday afternoon.

Blessings in Christ Jesus,
Fr. Rusty+

Christchurch Puppet Team Honored

The Christchurch W.O.R.D. Puppet Team attended the One Way Street Puppet Festival in Prattville February 6th-7th. They entered the Creative Ministry competition and were honored with three awards for their mime entitled “Found Sheep.” They received a Gold Medal, an award for Outstanding Originality and the Peoples Choice Award. This was a very special skit because the senior puppet team, along with Kat Damron, wrote, developed and created the entire production. The only role the other directors played was to, as Madeliene said, “tweak the performance and make the few props used.”

Members who attended were Kathleen Artman (sr.), Anne Miles Wilkerson (sr.), Mathew Damron (sr.), William Morris (sr.), Aline Sluis, Joseph Hixon, Winter Thorington, T.A. Sluis, Andrew Oats, Jordan Dennis, John Sluis, Pamela Swan, Katherine Damron, Caroline Broughton, Kitty Andrews and Charlotte Plaskett.

Congratulations!

Help us stock up on Angel Food

If you would like to make a “little extra” food when you are cooking a meal and freeze a portion for us to deliver to ill fellow parishioners, we would be grateful! Soups, casseroles or any other “freezable” meals would be welcome. Alternatives to casseroles are sometimes refreshing!

Angel Food is a Christchurch ministry that provides meals for church members
who are recovering from surgery, ill, or who have lost a family member. We can
use people to cook on a regular or one-time basis, and to deliver meals. We also
need someone with a truck or trailer who can move our freezer to the Vaughn Road
property. If you are interested in  participating, please contact Eloise Wilkerson or Beverly Stabler.
