YOUTH MINISTER
Travis King

Ten Questions with
Travis King
(With apologies to “Inside the Actors Studio”)

1.  Travis, what excites you most about youth ministry?
Watching God take hold of a student's life and seeing that student transformed.

2.  If you could spend a day with an historic figure (other than Jesus), who would it be?
Adam and Eve...I could make fun of them for not having belly buttons. Honestly, probably Clive Staples Lewis (C.S. Lewis). I think it would have been amazing to have been one of the "Inklings" and debate theology with him. He lived an amazing life and the wisdom he has passed down through his works has changed my life -- so, I think it would be awesome to meet him in person.

3.   Who is playing on your car’s CD player?
I have my ipod on shuffle...yes, I am a gadget geek. But my favorite secular band is U2 and David Crowder is my favorite Christian artist.

4.  Do you have any irrational fears or phobias?
Getting run over by the Oscar Mayer "Wienermobile" (also, my wife Sheri is afraid of elevators...no joke...I have walked many of stairs with her).

5.  We hear your wife, Sheri, is an athlete. Can you keep up with her on the track?
That depends...is she running and am I on a bike?

6.  If you couldn’t be involved in full time ministry, what profession would you most like to attempt?
I would like to be an anti-perspirant tester and try to find a deodorant that would stop my excessive sweating (I’m still praying I will sweat the face of Jesus so I can sell it on Ebay). Actually, I would like to write and illustrate children's books.
7.  Why is there an expiration date on sour cream?
That's a good question.   Makes me wonder why they put random warning labels on certain products such as: "Do not use in shower." & "Do not use while sleeping." -- Warning label found on a hair dryer.

 8.  Alabama or Auburn? Texas A&M. *

 9.  What role do you see youth playing in the life of a congregation like Christchurch?
Students are a vital part of church health. I would encourage them in using their spiritual gifts to serve in any way they can. Also, some great lessons can be learned by us "older folk" by watching a student live for Christ. I would love for the congregation to see the students engaging in authentic worship!

 10.  (a) What do you hope to NOT hear God say when you are ushered into Heaven?
"That look like it hurt." (10 min. after getting run down by the Wienermobile)

 (b) What do you hope to hear God say when you are ushered into Heaven?
"Well done good and faithful servant."
